2018 Patent Cooperation Treaty Seminar

Hotel

The 22nd Patent Cooperation Treaty Seminar is a two day seminar hosted in AIPLA's Past President's Conference Center.

This live seminar offers a deeper “nuts and bolts” introduction to the Patent Cooperation Treaty.  Learn about recent updates and participate in detailed discussions of frequently performed tasks, tools and resources, strategies, and best practices on topics including:
·        strategy, preparation, and filing a PCT application
·        making a 92bis request
·        filing a Demand and Article 34 amendment
·        filing an Article 19 amendment
·        checking the status and contents of a PCT application in ePCT (similar to Private PAIR)
·        national phase entry planning and execution
·        docketing PCT events and due dates
Who should attend this Seminar?

The Seminar is focused primarily on the important PCT work carried out by paralegals, paralegal managers, and legal staff. But because attorneys are ultimately responsible for instructing staff and the work they perform, the Seminar welcomes and encourages attorney attendance.   Seminar materials and discussions have proven to be helpful to all attendees, including attorneys, paralegals, portfolio managers, and administrative assistants.

Is there any prerequisite for this Seminar?

A basic working knowledge of PCT is recommended, but not required.
If you are new to PCT or desire a refresh of your PCT knowledge, we recommend attending the FREE PCT Primer.  Additional background is available through the WIPO Distance Learning Course (see ) prior to attending the Seminar.

What do I bring with me?

A portable computer configured for WIFI access is strongly recommended if you wish to take full advantage of hands on topics. A temporary password protected WIFI connection will be provided to Seminar participants.  Please test your computer’s WIFI connectivity prior to attending the Seminar.
If you bring a computer and wish to participate in hands on topics, a free WIPO account with user ID and password is needed.  Please establish and test your free WIPO account prior to attending the Seminar.  Don’t know how?  Learn how in the FREE PCT Primer Webinar.  NOTE: If your WIPO account login is set up with  two-factor authentication, please confirm you can authenticate by way of a Txt to the mobile phone you have with you during the Seminar, or that your WIPO cryptographic certificate is installed on the computer you bring to the Seminar.  Please test all equipment and logins prior to attending the Seminar.
All – strong authentication is recommended and will be discussed in the Primer and the Seminar, but I’m limiting the discussion here since it is not a requirement.
